Lights out: OpenProject 14.4 unveils dark mode

Berlin, August 14 2024 – OpenProject announces the release of version 14.4, featuring the much-anticipated dark mode, along with a range of other new features. This update, driven by user demand, improves accessibility, customization, and project management capabilities for the global community, solidifying the commitment to providing a versatile, user-centric project management software.

Dark mode: A new era for OpenProject users

In response to one of the most popular user requests, OpenProject 14.4 now includes a dark mode option alongside the existing themes and high contrast mode. This feature not only enhances visual appeal and reduces eye strain, particularly in low-light environments, but also offers energy-saving benefits on certain screens. Previously, managing multiple themes in OpenProject was technically complex. With the introduction of Primer in OpenProject, it now became easier to implement an additional dark theme.

Dark mode is available under the ‘My Account’ settings, where users can easily switch between light and dark theme, as well as the high contrast mode.

Other key enhancements in OpenProject 14.4

In addition to the dark mode, OpenProject 14.4 introduces several other important updates:

Improved status-based progress reporting: Users can now enter precise percentage values in status-based progress reports, allowing for more accurate tracking of project completion.

Enhanced permissions for project attributes: Project administrators now have greater control over who can view and edit project attributes, improving security and reducing the risk of errors.

Nextcloud integration connection validation: To ensure seamless integration, a new connection validation feature has been added for Nextcloud storages, making it easier for administrators to verify and troubleshoot configurations.
