OpenProject 14.5: Restore local backups in text editor, new export modal and more
We are happy to announce that we have released OpenProject 14.5! Here is an overview of highlight changes:
Highlights of OpenProject 14.5
In addition to new features, bug fixes and minor adjustments, we are very pleased to once again release a former Enterprise add-on to the Community: All OpenProject users can now filter and sort their project lists by custom fields. This is especially helpful for users who appreciate OpenProject’s high level of customization and work a lot with custom fields. They now benefit from an even better overview of their projects, also because we have additionally improved the filter search for everyone.
An extremely helpful new feature is the local ‘saving’ of content changes in the WYSIWYG text editor, i.e. for work package descriptions or wikis. What was originally intended as a bug fix, as some customers reported lost changes, has become a great feature in the end. For example, if you create a description for a work package, upload images and so on - and then close the page for whatever reason without saving first, unsaved changes were previously lost. Now you can click on a new icon in the editor header between the table function and the “Undo” arrow, which looks like a clock. A drop-down menu will then open, and you will see versions of your content changes, each with a time (e.g. 5 minutes ago) and the number of words in the respective version (e.g. 56 words).
We also improved the export modal for work packages. This updated interface is not only more intuitive, but also includes additional settings that allow you to export work package lists as Gantt charts. You can now also customize the columns directly from the modal, making it easier to tailor exports to your needs.
Administrators will be happy to learn that they can now activate a storage for multiple projects at once. This feature significantly simplifies the management of large portfolios by saving time when managing storage solutions across projects.
Nota
Please note that we have renamed some of the actions in the work package dropdown menu. They should now be easier to understand and more intuitive to use for new users, e.g. avoid confusion with Copy link to clipboard. Change project is now named Move to another project, and Copy (to other project) is now named Duplicate (to other project). The actions stay the same.
