OpenProject 8.1: Easier onboarding, graphs and conditional formatting

OpenProject 8.1 is here! The new OpenProject version introduces a guided tour for onboarding new users, graphs in the roadmap and many additional improvements.

Users of the Enterprise cloud and Enterprise on-premises edition benefit from an improved conditional formatting. Aside from status and priority, work packages can also be highlighted based on their type.

What is new in OpenProject 8.1?

Onboarding tour for new users

OpenProject is a very powerful tool with many capabilities. A new onboarding tour makes getting started with OpenProject easier than ever before.

When you sign in as a new user, you will be guided to take the first steps with OpenProject. You can choose between a tour for traditional project management and agile project management.

Graphs in the roadmap

On the roadmap page you can analyze the different versions and releases based on several attributes (e.g. status, priority, assignee).

These values are now displayed by a nice graph.

Highlighting based on type (Enterprise add-on)

As an addition to the conditional formatting which was introduced with OpenProject 8.0, it is possible to highlight work package rows based on the work package type. This way you can for example highlight bugs and errors in a list of tasks.

Additionally, it is possible to control which attributes are highlighted at the same time.

Improvements and bug fixes

Aside from these major improvements, OpenProject 8.1 contains a large number of smaller improvements and bug fixes.

Instalación

To use OpenProject 8.1 online, create an OpenProject environment on OpenProject.org.

Follow the migration guide for the packaged installation or the migration guide for Docker to update your OpenProject installation to OpenProject 8.1.
