OpenProject 15.0 brings emoji reactions in new Activity tab

Berlin, November 13, 2024 – OpenProject announces the release of version 15.0. This latest version brings a fresh and engaging update to how teams collaborate, introducing emoji reactions in the new Activity tab, along with several enhancements designed to streamline communication and boost productivity.

Emoji reactions: bringing fun and engagement to work 💬🙂

With the release of OpenProject 15.0, users can now add a bit of fun to their project communications through emoji reactions. 🎉 In the Activity tab of a work package, team members can express agreement, appreciation, or disapproval with just a click, choosing from a set of eight emojis. This new feature enhances interaction without generating additional notifications, making it a quick and efficient way to respond to updates or comments.

New activity tab: enhanced interactivity and usability

OpenProject 15.0 brings a brand-new look and feel to the Activity tab, making it easier than ever to engage in project discussions. Key updates include:

A redesigned timeline view with a fixed comment field, allowing users to dive straight into discussions without extra clicks.
Filtering options to display only comments or only change logs, helping users find the information they need faster.
The ability to toggle between viewing the latest updates at the top or bottom, offering greater flexibility in how users consume updates.

These updates ensure that collaboration is not only more efficient but also more enjoyable, fostering better communication across distributed teams.

Other key enhancements in OpenProject 15.0

In addition to the new Activity tab with emoji reactions, OpenProject 15.0 introduces several other important updates:

Real-time notifications: stay instantly informed

Another exciting improvement in version 15.0 is the upgrade to the notification center. Notifications are now updated in real-time, eliminating the need to refresh the browser. Additionally, comments in the Activity tab are now pushed instantly, creating a smoother, more responsive user experience.

Administration interface for SAML and OIDC integration

Enterprise Cloud customers will benefit from the new interfaces that enables administrators to configure Single Sign-On (SSO) directly for their users, without needing support assistance.

A new ‘Standard global role’

A newly added ‘Standard global role’ allows administrators to globally enable permissions to view email addresses in autocomplete situations by checking this option in the new global role that is automatically given to all users from now on.
