PRESS RELEASE 19th February 2025

OpenProject 15.3 introduces recurring meetings

Berlin, February 19, 2025 – OpenProject, the leading open source project management software, is proud to announce the release of OpenProject 15.3. This latest update delivers a major upgrade to the Meetings module with the introduction of recurring meetings, alongside key improvements that enhance productivity and collaboration.

Transforming meeting management with recurring meetings

Managing and scheduling meetings in OpenProject has never been easier. With OpenProject 15.3, users can now create Recurring Meetings, allowing teams to set up regular appointments based on a structured template. Instead of manually copying meetings for each occurrence, this new feature enables seamless scheduling by defining a recurrence pattern—whether daily, weekly, or at a custom interval.

Previously known as Dynamic Meetings, the meetings module now offers three distinct options:

  • Recurring Meetings – Automatically generate future meetings based on a predefined schedule.
  • One-time Meetings – Plan single, standalone meetings.
  • Classic Meetings – The traditional format, which will be phased out as new features become available.

The redesigned Meetings module further improves usability with an updated sidebar for quick navigation between meeting series, personal meetings, and recurring sessions. A streamlined overview page now divides upcoming meetings into clear categories like ‘Today,’ ‘Tomorrow,’ and ‘Next Week,’ ensuring users can easily track their scheduled appointments.

Additional enhancements in OpenProject 15.3

Beyond meeting management, OpenProject 15.3 introduces several improvements aimed at streamlining project workflows:

  • Create child work packages from the Relations tab – Users can now directly add child work packages without switching views, making project structuring faster and more intuitive.

  • Enhanced time and cost tracking – Timesheet PDF exports now include total sums, providing better insights into logged hours. Additionally, cost reports can now incorporate child work packages for more comprehensive financial tracking.

  • Improved collaboration on schedules – Relations between work packages, even those with restricted access, are now partially visible in the Relations tab. While users cannot interact with restricted items, they gain insight into dependencies, improving project planning.

Looking ahead: More Meetings module updates

While recurring meetings mark a significant step forward, OpenProject is already developing additional enhancements for their Meetings module. The next major update will introduce Agenda item outcomes, allowing teams to track meeting minutes, decisions, and follow-up tasks more effectively. Future iterations will also enable unfinished agenda items to be carried forward to upcoming meetings.
